| Microphotonic Photomicrosensors Reflective Microphotonic
These photomicrosensors focus the optical beam to ensure precise sensing range and
position characteristics. Using advanced optical technology, this type of photomicrosensor
exhibits qualities such as object displacement accuracy down to 5 microns.

Transmissive Type
Omron's small transmissive sensors have large slot widths (up to 13 mm). Some of these
sensors use optical modulation to reduce interference from external light. They also have
a wide operating range (5 VDC to 24 VDC) making an connection to TTL circuits, relays and
PLC's a snap.
These sensors use a
wide range of housing shapes and mounting hole patterns for greater design flexibility.
Their compact size does not diminish their capabilities. Models are available with
built-in amplifiers that are able to switch up to 100 mA of load current and deliver a
frequency response up to 1000 Hz. Other sensors have the power to detect objects as small
as 0.5 mm or sense liquid levels in transparent and semi-transparent pipes.
Reflective Type
These sensors address some of the more difficult sensing needs without limiting space or
flexibility. Models have a wide range of common features including Dark-On or Light-On
operation, built-in sensitivity adjusters, easy connection to TTL circuits, and optical
axis monitoring with operation indicators. In addition to the common features, some Omron
sensors are unaffected by mirror-like backgrounds, able to detect dark colored objects and
sensitive enough to detect objects as small as a 0.05 mm diameter copper wire. Their
varying inputs and operating ranges facilitate connections to CMOS, TTL circuits and
PLC's.
Fiber Optic Type
These models have a built-in amplifier and can be connected directly to a PLC. The
Light-On operation indicator provides for easy adjustment and optical axis monitoring.
They can also be converted to PNP output by using the EE-2001 conversion connector.
Separate Type
With a sensing range of up to one meter, these sensors literally leave plenty of room for
creativity. External light interference is reduced by light modulation and errors are
minimized by the high visibility Light-On indicator.
Non-Amplified
Photomicrosensors
These
photomicrosensors offer an inexpensive alternative to mechanical switches/sensors. A wide
variaton in mounting configurations is available to offer engineers many design options.
Because of their non-contact sensing ability, they last much longer than other types of
sensors.
