A program written using PC WORX can thus be used on PC printed circuit boards (field controllers) or intelligent field units (remote field controllers), depending on the requirement.



			

Field Controller with Graded Performance Spectrum for the PC
Field controllers are intelligent INTERBUS host controller boards with an additional IEC 1131 runtime system integrated on-board. Configuration and programming is undertaken in accordance with PLC norms using the PC WORX software package. Various performance levels of field controller are shown on pages 30/31 as PC printed circuit boards.

Die Anschaltbaugruppen The host controller boards for the PC ISA bus are the INTERBUS interface for the PC. As an option, boards with an integrated PC-compatible control computer (coprocessor) are available for applications with increased security and performance requirements.


The system concept of the coprocessors ensures the range of control functions is completely independent of the PC. They can be programmed using the DOS operating system in the same way as any other PC.


Remote Field Controllers -- INTERBUS PCs with Ethernet Interface
As well as the host controller boards which implement an INTERBUS connection via Ethernet for workstations, for example (pages 36/37), there are also intelligent versions available with an integrated IEC 1131 runtime system (Remote Field Controller).


Remote field controllers define the new generation of IEC 1131 programmable logic controllers based on PCs in which the I/O connection is implemented via INTERBUS.


An Ethernet interface is integrated as standard to permit an easy and inexpensive connection to higher level systems.
