Lightning current arresters
The first stage of an effective three-stage concept for the protection
of the power supply is the lightning current arrester, FLASHTRAB.
It is used to limit the surge voltages from lightning strikes and
to arrest lightning surge currents in the central power supply.

Surge voltage arresters
The surge voltage protection device, VALVETRAB is the second stage
in the concept from PHOENIX CONTACT for surge voltage protection
for the power supply. Thus, switching surge voltages in the power
supply network, or the residual voltage left in the lightning current
arrester during an arresting process are limited to a value lower
than1.5 kV. |

Equipment protection
Equipment protection as the third protection stage is a sensible
continuation of the effective concept of protection for the power
supply. The arresters are installed directly in front of the device
to be protected and are available in various designs, e.g. as fitted
box module, ground contact socket, socket adapter, or as a rail-mountable
module. |

Surge voltage protection
for MCR technology
For the field of measurement and control technology, PHOENIX CONTACT
provides surge voltage protection devices with protective circuits
for analog or binary signal interfaces. Scaled according to the
voltage levels, the circuits are designed, for example, for two,
three and four-conductor measurement circuits. A special protection
device is available for the protection of intrinsically safe circuits. |

|
Data interface protection
With the use of surge voltage protection devices corresponding to
the electrical parameters and mechanical conditions for connection
of the data interfaces, the availability of data processing equipment
is considerably increased and data loss avoided. |

Protection for telecommunications
interfaces
Modern telecommunications terminals are sensitive to transient surge
voltages. TRABTECH surge voltage protection devices increase the
permanent availability of modern telecommunications equipment, such
as telephones and telefax machines. Telecommunications protection
is adapted to the particular signal transmission, ISDN or analog,
and to the specific connection system. |
