Quix: Bayer Leverkusen opts for the Quick Connection System

Dipl.-Ing. Manfred Wegener,
Head of electronics/MCR-installation
at the Leverkusen works of Bayer AG

The  principle of "time is money" has already had a strong influence on our society and will be of major importance in the future, too. This especially applies to the construction of highly automated industrial plants. In order to start production with new plants as quickly as possible, installation must be simple and fast. Using a large number personnel is only theoretically an accelerating factor. With highly automated industrial plants requiring a very high level of safety, the number of personnel that can be employed is limited.

In order to reduce installation time of new plants, as well as maintenance work, new methods are required. Improved installation systems, for example, are a good means of achieving this goal. In this case, improvement means making installation faster, easier and also more reliable and safe. PHOENIX CONTACT has accepted this challenge and therefore developed the quick connection system, Quickon.

Bayer AG in Leverkusen

As customer and user of this innovation, we forecast savings of approx. 25 % in the sectors of equipment connection technology and also in the connection of cables and conductors. We expect even larger savings from the use of the QUIX modular terminal block with quick connection. This type of connection is an extremely simple but effective construction on the basis of the insulation displacement connection system.

Our demands for both fast and easy, as well as reliable and safe plant assembly have   been entirely satisfied by very good detailed solutions from PHOENIX CONTACT.
