For years now, the Jagenberg company has preferred to use INTERBUS when converting a paper machine in order to minimize the installation and commissioning times. The serial field bus is used for transmitting all I/O data to the controller via two conductors. The reliability of INTERBUS was brought to the attention of Hannover Papier in a coating plant built by Jagenberg. As a result, INTERBUS has now been installed in other parts of the plant as well. A new reel conveyor system from Thiessen Papchen was put into operation at the end of 1996 and Hannover Papier specified INTERBUS for this machine.
Other parts of the plant are now being fitted with INTERBUS due to good experience that Hannover Papier has had with all aspects of the Jagenberg paper machine which is networked using INTERBUS
In this case, the open nature of the system has proved really beneficial because it was possible to include plain text displays for the operators in the networked substations.
Hannover Papier of Alfeld is intending to rely on INTERBUS in the future as well.
